Create Search Engine Friendly Permalinks in WordPress

Immediately after you install WordPress, change your Permalink structure.

WordPress, by default, creates your links using parameters and numbers (i.e. /?p=123). Not a very search engine friendly URL.

Changing your permalinks to a more search engine friendly URL will help search engines find your website and help visitors understand what your page(s) or post(s) are about.

  3. Click on ‘Permalinks’

  1. Great suggestion, as my post urls were gobbledygook before switching it over.

Another thing I recently discovered and it is something else that WordPress users might want to consider is when setting up a hyperlink in their post, they should go to the ‘insert/edit link’ drop down menu and change it to ‘open in a new window’ so as to spawn a new web browser, rather than divert your audience away from your website.
