How to Password Protect a Post or Page in WordPress?

A client of ours needed a simple, password protected ‘Members Only’ page.

Easy…

  1. Add a New Post or Page
  2. Add your content (i.e. Title, categories, tags, etc.)
  3. Under the Publish tab, click the Edit link just beside Public
  4. Choose the Password protected radio button

    wp-publish

  5. And type in a (strong) password
  6. Click the OK button
  7. Preview and Publish

This is what the page looks like to your visitors.

Pretty sweet, huh?

Thank you to Scott for the awesome WordPress lock image.
